The 3 Days Rwanda Adventure Vacation Chimpanzee trekking Safari designed to explore the Chimpanzees – man’s closest relative in detail. In addition, the safari allows you to walk 40m high above the ground for over 90m long distance amidst the canopy of the pre-historic mountain forest of Nyungwe. The stops en route allows you to explore the heritage of Rwanda in Nyanza palace and the ethnographic museum not forgetting the art gallery Rwesero.

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Nyungwe forest National park in the south west of Rwanda 268km about 6 hours’ drive. You will drive through the traditional farms and undulating hills of Rwanda before you stop in Butare to visit the Nyanza palace – the royal homestead of the former Kings of Rwanda Rudahigwa and Musinga plus the ethnographic museum which contains over 100,000 artifacts. You will continue on the drive to arrive in Nyungwe in the afternoon for relaxation and overnight.

Accommodation: Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Upmarket/luxury), Nyungwe Hill Top View Lodge (Midrange/standard) or Gisakura guesthouse (Budget/Basic).

Day 2: Do Chimpanzee trekking & Canopy walk

Wake up for an early breakfast before gathering the starting point for briefing about the Chimpanzee trekking encounter at 08:00am. You will head to the forest of Nyungwe which is the largest mountain forest in East Africa dating back from the pre-historic era and is one of the few forests that survived the last ice age. Trekking populations of the habituated chimpanzees exposes you to this magical forest with its rich biodiversity including the largest grouping of colobus monkeys in Africa, birds and other wildlife. Chimpanzees themselves provide a thrilling experience as they roll themselves on tree branches, munch fruits, make pant hooting calls and socialize. Return from 2 – 5 hour activity for relaxation and lunch after which you will embark on the famous Nyungwe canopy walk the first of its kind in East Africa and the third in Africa. The 90m long and 40m high Nyungwe canopy takes 1 – 2 hours to accomplish amidst various bird sights, primates like monkeys and the lush canopy of this mountain forest. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali

After a relaxed breakfast, embark on the transfer back to Kigali city 268km about 6 hours’ drive. You can pass by the Rwesero Art Gallery to experience the art culture of Rwanda. The beautiful paintings and art designs will make your stop rewarding. Continue on the journey to arrive in Kigali city in the afternoon. You will have lunch in Butare.
